When travelling on public transport you must wear a fitted face mask covering your nose and mouth and ensure you wear it for your entire journey.
Major works this winter
As part of Victoria’s Big Build, major works will continue in June, July and August to remove more than 20 dangerous and congested level crossings, including the Ferguson Street level crossing in Williamstown. The Metro Tunnel, Sunbury Line Upgrade and Regional Rail Revival projects on the Geelong, Warrnambool, Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill lines will also progress.
Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail and tram networks to ensure services continue to run reliably. There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time.
Metro Trains
Craigieburn Line
- Craigieburn line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm Friday 20 August to last train Sunday 22 August due to infrastructure works
Cranbourne and Sunbury Lines
- Craigieburn and Sunbury line trains run direct to and from Southern Cross, not via the City Loop, from 9pm to last train each night from 9pm to last train each night on Monday 16 August and Tuesday 17 August.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Buses replace Cranbourne and Pakenham trains between Westall and Cranbourne/Berwick stations from 8pm Friday 13 August to last service Sunday 15 August, due to works.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, 9pm to last train on Tuesday 17 August, due to works.
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 9pm Friday 20 August to 8pm Sunday 22 August, due to works.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, 9pm to last train on Sunday 22 August, due to works.
Frankston Line
- From Monday 2 August, Frankston Line trains will run express through Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach stations which are closed until November 2021. A combined station closure and community shuttle bus will operate between Mordialloc and Carrum to allow passengers to cross the rail line and to connect to Frankston Line trains.
- Trains run direct to and from Caulfield Station on the Frankston Line from 9pm to last train on Tuesday 17 August, due to works.
- Buses replace trains between Moorabbin and Frankston stations from from 9pm to last service each night, Tuesday 17 August and Wednesday 18 August, due to Level crossing removal works.
Lilydale Line
- Mooroolbark station is closed from 8.30pm Friday 16 July to Sunday 24 October 2021 to allow for the construction of the new rail bridge and station. Further car park and station changes are in place until early 2022.
- Buses replace trains between Ringwood/Croydon and Lilydale at select times from Monday 19 July to Friday 30 September, due to level crossing removal works.
Mernda Line
- Buses replace trains between Clifton Hill and Mernda from 9pm to last service each night, Monday 9 August to Thursday 12 August due to works.
- Buses replace trains between Clifton Hill and Mernda from 9pm to last service each night, Monday 16 August to Thursday 19 August due to works.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace Pakenham trains between Dandenong and Pakenham from 10.30pm to last train each night on Wednesday 11 August and Thursday 12 August, due to works.
Sandringham Line
- Buses replace trains between Parliament and Elsternwick from 8.55pm to last train each night on Monday 16 August and Tuesday 17 August, due to works.
Sunbury and Upfield Line
- Sunbury and Upfield line trains run to and from Southern Cross, not to Flinders Street or via the City Loop, at select times from 9pm Friday 20 August to last train Sunday 22 August due to infrastructure works.
Upfield Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 8.35pm to last train each night on Monday 16 August and Tuesday 17 August, due to infrastructure works.
Werribee and Williamstown Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne, Newport and Williamstown from 8.40pm to last train each night on Monday 16 August and Tuesday 17 August, due to works.
Williamstown Line
- North Williamstown Station is closed from 8.30pm Monday 2 August to last service Friday 12 November to allow for project works.
- Buses replace trains between Newport and Williamstown stations from 8.30pm Friday 20 August to last service Friday 12 November, due to level crossing removal works.
V/Line
Border information
- You will need to apply for a permit to enter Victoria from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand. Areas will be designated green, orange, red or extreme risk zones by the Chief Health Officer (CHO) based on public health advice.
