When travelling on public transport you must wear a fitted face mask covering your nose and mouth and ensure you wear it for your entire journey.
Night Network paused
All night public transport on Fridays and Saturdays will be paused for the next two weeks from Friday 20 August to support the 9pm to 5am curfew in metropolitan Melbourne.
This means that trains, trams, buses and V/Line night coaches will not run between 1am and 5am on Saturdays and between 1am and 6am on Sundays.
Major works this winter
As part of Victoria’s Big Build, major works will continue in June, July and August to remove more than 20 dangerous and congested level crossings, including the Ferguson Street level crossing in Williamstown. The Metro Tunnel, Sunbury Line Upgrade and Regional Rail Revival projects on the Geelong, Warrnambool, Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill lines will also progress.
Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail and tram networks to ensure services continue to run reliably. There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time.
Metro Trains
Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale Lines
- Trains on the Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm to last train on Thursday 26 August, due to infrastructure works.
- Trains on the Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm Friday 27 August to last train Sunday 29 August, due to infrastructure works.
Craigieburn Line
- Craigieburn line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm Friday 20 August to last train Sunday 22 August due to infrastructure works.
Craigieburn, Sunbury and Upfield lines
- Craigieburn, Sunbury and Upfield line trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm to last train on Thursday 26 August.
Cranbourne and Sunbury Lines
- Craigieburn and Sunbury line trains run direct to and from Southern Cross, not via the City Loop, from 9pm to last train each night from 9pm to last train each night on Monday 16 August and Tuesday 17 August.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from 8.40pm to last service each night, Tuesday 17 August to Thursday 19 August, due to works.
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 9pm Friday 20 August to 8pm Sunday 22 August, due to works.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, 9pm to last train on Sunday 22 August, due to works.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from 8.40pm to last service each night, Monday 23 August to Thursday 26 August 2021, due to works.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, 9pm to last train on Thursday 26 August, due to works.
- Buses replace Cranbourne and Pakenham trains between Flinders Street and Oakleigh stations from 12.05am Saturday 28 August to last train Sunday 29 August, due to Metro Tunnel Project works.
Frankston Line
- Frankston Line trains will run express through Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach stations which are closed until November 2021. A combined station closure and community shuttle bus will operate between Mordialloc and Carrum to allow passengers to cross the rail line and to connect to Frankston Line trains.
- Buses replace trains between Moorabbin and Frankston stations from from 9pm to last service each night from Monday 23 August to Wednesday 25 August, due to Level crossing removal works.
- Buses replace Frankston trains between Flinders Street and Caulfield stations from 12.05am Saturday 28 August to last train Sunday 29 August, due to Metro Tunnel Project works.
Hurstbridge and Mernda Lines
- Trains on the Hurstbridge and Mernda lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop from 9pm Friday 27 August to last train Sunday 29 August, due to works.
Lilydale Line
- Mooroolbark station is closed from 8.30pm Friday 16 July to Sunday 24 October 2021 to allow for the construction of the new rail bridge and station. Further car park and station changes are in place until early 2022.
Mernda Line
Buses replace trains on the Mernda line between:
- Clifton Hill and Mernda from 9pm to last service each night, Monday 16 August to Thursday 19 August.
- Clifton Hill and Mernda from 9pm to last service each night, Monday 13 August and Tuesday 24 August.
- Epping and Mernda from 9pm to last service each night, Wednesday 25 August and Thursday 26 August.
Stony Point Line
- Buses replace trains between Frankston and Stony Point stations from 6pm to last train on Thursday 26 August, due to infrastructure works.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations from 8.45pm to last service each night, Sunday 29 August to Wednesday 1 September due to Sunbury Line upgrade and maintenance works.
Sunbury and Upfield Line
- Sunbury and Upfield line trains run to and from Southern Cross, not to Flinders Street or via the City Loop, at select times from 9pm Friday 20 August to last train Sunday 22 August due to infrastructure works.
Upfield Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 8.35pm to last train on Thursday 26 August, due to infrastructure works.
Williamstown Line
- North Williamstown Station is closed from 8.30pm Monday 2 August to last service Friday 12 November to allow for project works.
- Buses replace trains between Newport and Williamstown stations from 8.30pm Friday 20 August to last service Friday 12 November, due to level crossing removal works.
