Major works this autumn
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects this autumn. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Alamein, Belgrave and Lilydale Lines
- Buses replace trains between Parliament and Camberwell stations on the Alamein, Belgrave and Lilydale lines from 8.50pm Friday 29 April to last service Sunday 1 May.
- Buses replace trains between Burnley, Box Hill and Alamein stations from 8.15pm to last service each night, Monday 2 May to Wednesday 4 May.
Belgrave and Lilydale Lines
- Buses replace trains between Camberwell and Ringwood from 8.35pm to last service each night, Sunday 8 May to Wednesday 11 May
Craigieburn Line
- Buses replace trains on the Craigieburn Line from 9pm Monday 25 April to 9pm Friday 6 May.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 9pm Friday 29 April to last service Sunday 1 May.
Glen Waverley Line
- Buses replace Glen Waverley line trains between Richmond and Glen Waverley stations from 8.05pm Friday 29 April to last service Sunday 1 May.
Hurstbridge Line
- Buses replace trains between Eltham and Hurstbridge from 9.30pm to last service on Thursday 28 April.
Mernda Line
- Buses replace trains between Epping and Mernda stations from 8.50pm to last train each night from Monday 2 May to Thursday 5 May.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace Sunbury line trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations from 8.30pm to last service each night from Sunday 1 May to Thursday 5 May.
- Buses replace Sunbury line trains between North Melbourne and Sunbury stations from 12.30am Saturday 7 May to last service Sunday 8 May.

Route 72
- Service changes apply on Route 72 trams between 7pm Friday 29 April to last tram Saturday 14 May 2022.
V/Line
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Coaches replace selected trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May.
- Coaches will replace some trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines for all or part of the journey from the evening of Friday 6 May to last service on Sunday 8 May.
Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough Lines
- Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Melton on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May.
- Coaches replace evening trains on the Ballarat line from Sunday 1 May to Tuesday 3 May.
Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill Lines
- Coaches replace trains on the Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill lines for part of the journey on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May.
Geelong and Warrnambool Lines
- Coaches replace select Geelong and Warrnambool evening trains for all or part of the journey on Friday 29 April.
- Coaches will replace trains on the Geelong Line for all or part of the journey from from Saturday 30 April to Saturday 28 May.
- Coaches replace Warrnambool trains for all or part of the journey from Saturday 30 April to Saturday 28 May.
Seymour and Shepparton Lines
- Coaches replace Seymour and Shepparton line trains for the entire journey from Friday 22 April to Sunday 8 May.
- Coaches will replace some evening Seymour Line trains for the entire journey from Monday 9 May to Wednesday 11 May.
