    Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Years Day

    Travel on public transport across Victoria will be free from the first to the last service on Christmas Day, including one way or return travel on all V/Line train and coach services within Victoria

    Metro Trains


    Craigieburn Line

    • Trains on the Craigieburn, Sunbury, Upfield, Werribee and Williamstown lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop, from 8.45pm to last train each night Sunday 5 January to Wednesday 8 January 2020.
    • Craigieburn, Sunbury, Upfield, Werribee and Williamstown lines
    • Trains on the Craigieburn, Sunbury, Upfield, Werribee and Williamstown lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop, from 8.45pm to last train each night Sunday 5 January to Wednesday 8 January.

     

    Cranbourne and Pakenham lines

    • Buses replace trains between Parliament and Caulfield stations from first train Thursday 2 January to 12.20am Saturday 4 January.
    • Buses replace trains between Flinders Street and Westall stations from first train Saturday 4 January to last train Sunday 12 January.

     

    Frankston and Stony Point lines

    • Buses replace trains between Parliament and Caulfield stations from first train Thursday 2 January to 12.20am Saturday 4 January.
    • Buses replace trains between Frankston and Stony Point from first train Thursday 2 January to last train Saturday 1 February.
    • Buses replace trains between Parliament/Flinders Street and Mordialloc from first train Saturday 4 January to last train Sunday 5 January.

     

    Pakenham Line

    • Buses replace trains between Dandenong and Pakenham stations, 8.10pm to last train each night from Thursday 26 December to Monday 30 December, due to project works.

     

    Sandringham Line

    • Buses replace trains between Parliament and Elsternwick from 4.40am Thursday 2 January to 1.30pm Thursday 2 January.
    • Buses replace trains between Parliament and Elsternwick from 1.15am Saturday 4 January to 7.30am Saturday 4 January.
    • Trains on the Sandringham Line will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop on Saturday 4 January and Sunday 5 January.

     

    Sunbury Line

    • Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations from 8.10pm to last train each night from Sunday 5 January to Wednesday 8 January, due to maintenance works.

     

    Upfield Line

    • Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 8.20pm to last train each night from Sunday 5 January to Wednesday 8 January, due to maintenance works.

     

    Werribee and Williamstown lines

    • Buses replace trains between Newport and Werribee stations from 8.15pm to the last train Thursday 2 Janaury.
    • Trains on the Werribee and Williamstown lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop on Saturday 4 January and Sunday 5 January.
    • Buses replace trains between Newport and Werribee stations from 8.20pm to last train Sunday 5 January.

     

    Yarra Trams


    Route 96

    • Buses replace Route 96 trams from first tram Thursday 2 January to 2am Sunday 19 January 2020 along Nicholson Street between Rose and Blyth streets.

     

    V/Line


    Bendigo Line

    • Coaches replace select evening trains between Southern Cross and Bendigo/Epsom from Sunday 5 January to Tuesday 7 January, while maintenance works take place.

    Geelong and Warrnambool lines

    • Road coaches replace selected evening trains on the Geelong line from Sunday 29 December to Monday 30 December, due to works.

     

    Gippsland Line

    • Road coaches replace evening trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines from Friday 20 December to Thursday 26 December, due to Metro works.
    • Road coaches replace selected evening/early morning trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines from Thursday 26 December to Monday 30 December.
    • Road coaches replace trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines for the full journey from Thursday 2 January to Thursday 30 January.

     

    Metropolitan buses


    Travel to Chadstone Shopping Centre by bus on Boxing Day

    • On Boxing Day Thursday 26 December, over 420 extra bus services will run between Oakleigh Station and Chadstone Shopping Centre. Buses will run from 5am to midnight with a 5 to 8 minutes frequency, in addition to regular timetabled services.
    • Extra weekend bus services will run between Oakleigh Station and Chadstone Shopping Centre on weekends and public holidays until Monday 27 January 2020. The average wait time is 2 minutes on weekdays and 5 minutes on weekends.
