Don’t forget to check before you travel.

 

Christmas Day and Boxing Day

Public transport will run to altered timetables on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Travel on public transport across Victoria will be free from the first to the last service on Christmas Day, including one way or return travel on all V/Line train and coach services within Victoria

Metro Trains


Alamein, Belgrave and Lilydale lines

  • Buses replace trains between Burnley and Box Hill stations from 8.25pm Friday 20 December to last train Sunday 22 December, while project works take place.

 

Cranbourne, Frankston and Pakenham lines

  • Buses replace trains between South Yarra and Caulfield stations from 8.15pm to the last train each night on Wednesday 18 December and Thursday 19 December.

 

Glen Waverley Line

  • Trains on the Glen Waverley Line will experience service changes from 8.28pm to last train on Sunday 22 December.

 

Pakenham Line

  • Buses replace trains between Dandenong and Pakenham stations, 8.10pm to last train each night from Friday 20 December to Monday 23 December, due to project works
  • Buses replace trains between Dandenong and Pakenham stations, 8.10pm to last train each night from Thursday 26 December to Monday 30 December, due to project works.

 

Metropolitan Buses


Travel to Chadstone Shopping Centre by bus on Boxing Day

  • On Boxing Day Thursday 26 December, over 420 extra bus services will run between Oakleigh Station and Chadstone Shopping Centre. Buses will run from 5am to midnight with a 5 to 8 minutes frequency, in addition to regular timetabled services.
  • Extra weekend bus services will run between Oakleigh Station and Chadstone Shopping Centre on weekends and public holidays until Monday 27 January 2020. The average wait time is 2 minutes on weekdays and 5 minutes on weekends

 

V/Line


 

Geelong and Warrnambool lines

  • Due to planned industrial action, no V/Line trains will run on the Geelong and Warrnambool lines from first service to last service on Thursday 19 December.
  • Road coaches replace selected evening trains on the Geelong line from Sunday 29 December to Monday 30 December, due to works.

 

Gippsland Line

  • Road coaches replace evening trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines from Monday 16 December to Thursday 19 December, due to scheduled maintenance works.
  • Road coaches replace evening trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines from Friday 20 December to Thursday 26 December, due to Metro works.
