🚌 National Express West Midlands (NXWM) Updates
To help you plan your local bus commute, please note the following key service updates across the NXWM network:
🚨 Saltley Viaduct Closure: Major long-term route diversions and revised timetables remain active for Routes 14, 94, 95, and 97. These buses are operating via alternative corridors—expect localised traffic congestion and shifted stop patterns along Alum Rock, Ward End, and Heartlands Hospital.
⏱️ Route 96 Timetable Shift: Evening journeys out of the NEC are retimed by 5 minutes to improve passenger connections. Additionally, a temporary detour bypassing part of Holly Lane is in place due to one-way National Grid roadworks.
🏗️ Black Country Tramway Construction: Ongoing roadworks for the Metro extension continue to cause localized delays and route diversions for Routes 8 and X8 around the Merry Hill and Dudley corridors.
🚌 Other Regional Bus Diversions
Coventry & Rugby Regional Services (Stagecoach): Revised schedules are active for Routes 24, 24A, 24X (Coventry to Kenilworth/Stoneleigh) and Routes 25, 25A, 25X (Coventry to Rugby).
🚆 Major Rail Network Changes
🚨Sunday 14th June
Significant track maintenance will completely halt train services across key regional intersections all day on Sunday. Rail replacement buses will replace trains between:
Leamington Spa / Rugby and Nuneaton / Birmingham International.
Affected Operators: This major block will heavily impact Avanti West Coast (to/from London Euston), CrossCountry (between Bournemouth/Reading and Manchester Piccadilly), London Northwestern Railway, and West Midlands Railway. If you are connecting through Birmingham International or traveling down to London/the South, budget for significantly extended travel times.
🛠️ Late-Evening & Saturday Rail Adjustments
Cross City Line (Saturday, June 13): West Midlands Railway will operate amended timetables between Lichfield Trent Valley and Birmingham New Street / Bromsgrove. Check the live departures board as a few train times have been shifted.
Coventry to Leamington Spa (Saturday, June 13): The late-evening 22:36 service from Leamington Spa to Coventry is running on a heavily amended schedule.
