πŸ“’ Weekend Travel Advice

May 14, 2026
🚌 Major Bus Route Changes (Birmingham City Centre)
    • Saltley Viaduct Closure: The viaduct has been closed for a total rebuild to accommodate the new HS2 rail lines. This project will heavily divert multiple routes all week.

      • Routes 8A & 8C (Inner Circle): Strongly diverted. Services towards Aston divert via Washwood Heath Road and Aston Church Road.

      • Route 14: Bypassing Devon Street, Alderflat Place, and Mainstream Way completely.

      • Routes 94 & 95: Strikingly modified routes into and out of the city centre. Expect severe timetable adjustments and localized delays near Ward End and Kingshurst.

    • Blackheath & Dudley Diversions: Long-term roadworks mean that National Express routes 8 and X8 between Birmingham and Wolverhampton remain on a modified routing.

    πŸš‡ West Midlands Metro (Trams)
    • Status: Trams are currently operating their full normal routing between Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village.

πŸš† Rail Disruptions (West Coast Main Line)

Significant infrastructure and maintenance works will affect train routes into Birmingham New Street this coming weekend.

    • Sunday, May 17 (Until 19:00): Network Rail is carrying out essential maintenance work between Milton Keynes Central and Rugby.

      • Impact: Train services running between London Euston and Birmingham New Street will be heavily diverted and will not stop at Northampton or Long Buckby.

      • Alternative: Rail replacement bus services will handle passengers traveling to the skipped stations. Expect heavily extended travel times for long-distance commuter journeys on Sunday afternoon.

    🚌 Coventry Local Services
    • Route 85 / 85B / 85H / 85K (Coventry to Rugby): Stagecoach operations continue to run on a heavily revised timetable. If you are commuting toward Ashlawn School or through Brinklow, expect shifted departure windows.
