As Washington, D.C. prepares to host funeral events for former President Jimmy Carter, Metro is announcing temporary service adjustments to ensure the safety and security of attendees and residents.
Metro will close the Archives – Navy Memorial rail station to customers starting Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. on Jan. 8, at the request of the Secret Service. Trains will bypass the station.Metrobus Service Adjustments:
Security zones around the White House, the U. S. Capitol, and the National Cathedral will close off several streets to traffic, including transit vehicles.
Metro will detour several routes starting Monday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. through 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9.
- The following routes will be detoured Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. through Jan. 8 at 5:30 a.m.: 3F, 32, 33, 36, 52, 59, 63, 64, 70, 74, 79, P6, and S2. Additional routes may experience detours due to potential rolling road closures.
- On Tuesday, Jan. 7 the D6 will detour between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. due to E Street closure.
- The following buses will detour starting at 12:30 p.m. through 2:00 p.m. on Jan. 7: D14, J12, K12, W4.
- The following routes will be detoured beginning at 12:01 a.m. through 4 p.m. on Jan. 9: 31, 33, N2, N4, and 96.
Please note, additional rolling road closures may occur from Jan. 6 through Jan. 9, which could further impact Metrobus service.
