Yom Kippur 2024 Transit Updates

Dear riders,

We have collected for you several public transit changes that will take place during Yom Kippur (October 11th – October 12th). Many agencies will provide shortened and alternative service for the Eve of Yom Kippur and the Night of Yom Kippur. Main bus agencies, rail, and light rail service will have no service on Yom Kippur. Moovit is updated. We suggest using our trip planner to plan your trip in advance. Just set your desired arrival or departure time.

🚉 Changes in Israel Railways service

Yom Kippur Eve, Friday, 11.10.24:

The trains will operate according to a designated schedule, which includes additional trains on the eve of the holiday to ensure optimal train service.

On this day, the passenger trains will operate between the hours of 06:00-13:00 in an enhanced format, based on Friday schedules, with the addition of a high-frequency train service of two trains every hour (instead of one every hour) on the Haifa-Tel Aviv line, as well as train service on the Be’er Sheva-Dimona line.

Yom Kippur, Saturday, 12.10.24: 

As every year, no trains will be operated on the evening of Yom Kippur, Saturday Night, October 12th, 2024.

Train traffic will resume on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.

Train traffic will resume on Tuesday, 26.09.23.


🚌 Changes in Bus service

🔸 On Yom Kippur eve, Friday, October 11th, bus service will gradually end between 14:00-15:00.

🔸 On Yom Kippur, Saturday, October 12th, bus services will gradually resume starting at approximately 20:00.


🚋 Changes in the Light Rail Dankal – The Red Line

Last trains on Yom Kippur Eve, Friday, October 11:

  • Train R1 from Komemiyut Station, Bat Yam to Petah Tikva Central Station will depart at 13:00.
  • Train R1 from Petah Tikva Central Station to Komemiyut Station, Bat Yam will depart at 13:00.
  • Train R2 from Komemiyut Station to Kiryat Aryeh Station, Petah Tikva will depart at 13:35.
  • Train R3 from Elifelet Station, Tel Aviv to Kiryat Aryeh Station, Petah Tikva will depart at 14:05.
  • Train R3 from Kiryat Aryeh Station, Petah Tikva to Elifelet Station, Tel Aviv will depart at 13:55.

Service will resume after Yom Kippur on Saturday night, October 12, at 21:30.


🚋 Changes in the Light Rail service in Jerusalem

On Thursday 10.10.2024, the night of taking the vows, Cfir the light rail will operate all night long without a break!
On the weekdays of Sukkot Cfir will increase train traffic for the benefit of visitors to Jerusalem.
