Major works this autumn
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects this autumn. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Belgrave Line
- Buses replace trains between Ringwood and Belgrave stations from 1.10am Saturday 14 May to 9.20pm Sunday 15 May.
Belgrave and Lilydale Lines
- Buses replace trains between Blackburn, Lilydale and Belgrave stations from 9.20pm to last service Sunday 15 May.
- Buses replace trains between Blackburn, Lilydale and Belgrave stations from 8.35pm to last service each night, Monday 16 May to Wednesday 18 May.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 9pm Friday 13 May to last service Sunday 15 May.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield, Dandenong and Pakenham from 8.30pm to last service on Sunday 15 May.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from 8.30pm to last service each night from Monday 16 May to Thursday 19 May.
- Buses replace Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains between the City and Westall from 8:30pm to last service each night from Sunday 22 May to Wednesday 25 May.
Hurstbridge and Mernda Lines
- Mernda and Hurstbridge trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm Saturday 14 May to last service Sunday 15 May
Lilydale Line
- Buses replace trains between Ringwood and Lilydale stations from 8.30pm Thursday 19 May to last service Monday 23 May.
Mernda Line
- Buses replace trains between Epping and Mernda stations from 8.50pm to last train each night from Monday 9 May to Thursday 12 May.
- Buses replace trains on select sections of the Mernda Line from 9pm on Tuesday 17 May to last service Sunday 29 May.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace trains between Berwick and Pakenham from 9.30pm Saturday 14 May to 8.30pm Sunday 15 May.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace trains between Sunshine and Sunbury stations from 8.30pm Friday 20 May to last service Sunday 22 May.

- Service changes apply on Route 72 trams between 7pm Friday 29 April to last tram Saturday 14 May 2022.
V/Line
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Coaches will replace trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines for all or part of the journey at select times from the evening of Saturday 14 May to last service on Thursday 19 May.
Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill Lines
- Coaches replace Swan Hill line trains between Southern Cross and Bendigo on Saturday 14 May and Sunday 15 May.
Geelong and Warrnambool Lines
- Coaches will replace trains on the Geelong Line for all or part of the journey from from Saturday 30 April to Saturday 28 May.
- Coaches replace Warrnambool trains for all or part of the journey from Saturday 30 April to Saturday 28 May.
Seymour and Shepparton Lines
- Trains on the Seymour and Shepparton lines will operate at slower than normal speeds and with some changes to arrival and departure times from Monday 9 May to Thursday 9 June.
