π Greater Anglia Rail Upgrades (Weekend Closures)
Network Rail infrastructure works will result in lines being closed, with a series of rail-replacement bus services operating on Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July:
Cambridge North to Thetford / Norwich: Lines are closed between Cambridge North and Thetford. Rail-replacement buses will operate on this section. A revised, less frequent train timetable will run between Thetford and Norwich.
Peterborough to Bury St Edmunds: On Sunday 12 July, lines are closed all day. A dedicated bus replacement service will run the full length of the route.
East Suffolk Line (Lowestoft to Ipswich): Track renewals mean all lines are closed on Sunday 12 July. A replacement bus service will connect all intermediate stations.
Stansted Express & Mainline Diversions: Early morning trains on Sunday 12 July (until 08:10) will bypass Tottenham Hale due to engineering works. Inbound airport services will be diverted via Seven Sisters.
π Regional Bus Infrastructure Diversions
Essential road infrastructure projects have triggered major long-term closures affecting local bus networks this week:
The Long Stratton Bypass Works (Norfolk): A major southbound closure on Norwich Road is forcing extensive route diversions on regional bus services 1, 1A, 64, and 82. Key stops including The Plain, Hill Farm Road, and St Michaels Road cannot be served.
Diss Road Closure (Suffolk/Norfolk Border): Due to gas main replacement works, Diss Road is entirely closed. Regional bus lines 1A, 81, and 82 are on wide diversions and are unable to serve Diss Rail Station. Passengers connecting between rail and bus travel must prepare alternative drop-off points.
