Additional services will help you get easily to and from the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 5 November 2019.
Make your journey hassle-free and remember to top up your myki and have it ready to use before travelling.
All services will operate to a public holiday timetable, with additional services noted below.

Metropolitan train
Getting to the Racecourse
Trains depart Flinders Street Station platforms 8 and 9, running express to Flemington Racecourse Station:
- 8.17am to 1.18pm, every 15 minutes
Trains depart Southern Cross Station Platform 8, stopping at North Melbourne Station Platform 2 to Flemington Racecourse Station:
- 8.20am to 9.08am, every 15 minutes
- 9.23am to 1.23pm, every 10 minutes
Trains depart Flinders Street Station platforms 8 and 9, stopping at Southern Cross Station Platform 14, North Melbourne Station Platform 6 and Flemington Racecourse Station:
- 1.25pm to 4.59, every 10 minutes
Leaving the Racecourse
Trains depart Flemington Racecourse Station stopping at North Melbourne Station, Southern Cross Station and Flinders Street Station:
- 1.36pm to 3.09pm, every 10 minutes
- 3.20pm to 8.55pm, every 5 minutes
Please note: The last service to depart Flemington Racecourse will be at 8.55pm from Platform 1
Footscray Station bus shuttle
Passengers for the Sunbury, Werribee and Williamstown lines can catch a one-way shuttle bus from Leonard Crescent (outside Flemington Racecourse Station) express to Footscray Station:
- From 3.00pm to 8.30pm, every 5 minutes.
Metropolitan tram
Trams will operate to a Saturday frequency, with last tram approximately one hour earlier than usual. Route 30 trams will not operate, and there will be no Night Network services.
Getting to and from the Racecourse
Seven additional services will operate on Route 57 from Elizabeth Street to Stop 30 Epsom Road (Melbourne Showgrounds)
- From 8.30am to 8.30pm
Metropolitan bus
Metropolitan buses will operate to a public holiday timetable.
Getting to and from the Racecourse
The following bus route travels close to Flemington Racecourse:
- Route 404 (Footscray – Moonee Ponds via Newmarket)
Regional train
Regional trains will run to a Saturday timetable.
Getting to the Racecourse
- Passengers arriving at North Melbourne and Southern Cross stations are advised to change trains and catch a Flemington Racecourse service.
- Refer to the Metropolitan trains section above for service times and platform information.
Leaving the Racecourse
- Passengers are advised to get any train from Flemington Racecourse and alight at Southern Cross or North Melbourne stations and change to a regional train.
- Refer to the Metropolitan train section above for service times.
Regional coach
Regional coaches will run to a Saturday timetable.
Getting to the Racecourse
- Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station coach terminal are advised to walk to Platforms 8 or 14 and catch a Flemington Racecourse service.
- Refer to the Metropolitan train section above for service times and platform information.
Leaving the Racecourse
- Passengers can catch any service departing Flemington Racecourse, alight at Southern Cross Station and then walk to the coach terminal.
