Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 1 to Sunday 7 April 2024

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April   

    • Nightly from 8.40pm, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
    • Nightly from 9.20pm, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong.

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April

    • Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.

    City Circle Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April  

    • Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
    • Trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
    • The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April    

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between North Sydney and Wynyard.
    • Nightly from 10.40pm to 1.30am, buses also replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby.
    • Trains run between Hornsby and North Sydney, some to a changed timetable.
    • Thursday from 11.20pm these trains leave Asquith, Mount Colah, Mount Kuring-gai and Berowra from platform 1.

    T1 Western Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April   

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
    • Trains run between Penrith, Blacktown and Central, platforms 1-12 only.

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April

    • Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.30am, trains may start or end at Central due to City Circle trackwork. 

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield.
    • Catch a direct train between T1 Western Line stations and the City via Bankstown or change at Lidcombe for a T3 Bankstown Line train. 
    • If you are travelling to the City, change at Glenfield for trains via the Airport, or Liverpool or Lidcombe for trains via Bankstown

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April

    • Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.30am, trains may start or end at Central due to City Circle trackwork. 

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Extra trains run between Lidcombe and the City via Sydenham, to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April    

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 2.20am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April 

    • Daily from 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
    • Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.

    Sunday 7 April 

    • From 1pm to 4pm, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make an extra stop at Arncliffe.
    • Buses run between Sydenham, Wolli Creek and Arncliffe.
    • Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April   

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
    • Buses towards Blacktown may leave up to 20 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable. 

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Extra trains run between Richmond and Leppington

    T7 Olympic Park Line

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Olympic Park and Lidcombe, with some trains continuing to Penrith or Leppington

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April

    • Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.30am, trains may start or end at Central due to City Circle trackwork.

    T9 Northern Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April    

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only. 

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April

    • Extra trains run between Rhodes and the City Circle.

    Blue Mountains Line

    From Wednesday 3 April

    • Wednesday’s Bathurst Bullet train service has important timetable changes.

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only, due to trackwork between Lidcombe and Strathfield.
    • Change at Penrith for express buses to Strathfield.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April    

    • Nightly from 10.20pm to 3am, trains from Hornsby to Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations may run up to 15 minutes later than the normal timetable and make extra stops at Asquith, Mount Colah and Mount Kuring-gai.

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Buses replace trains between Wyong and Gosford.
    • Trains run between Newcastle and Wyong, and between Gosford and Central, some to a changed timetable.

    Hunter Line

    Wednesday 3 to Saturday 6 April  

    • 4am Wednesday to 8am Saturday, buses replace trains between Scone and Maitland.
    • Trains between Dungog, Maitland and Newcastle Interchange may run to a changed timetable.
    • Wednesday and Thursday, nightly from 7.20pm to 4.30am, buses replace all trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange.

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  

    • Some trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.

    South Coast Line

    Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April   

    • Daily from 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville. 

    Sunday 7 April   

    • Sunday from 1pm to 4pm, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make extra stops at Arncliffe and Sydenham.
