Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
Metro
Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 March
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line may affect how you travel. Change at Epping for trains towards the City.
T1 North Shore Line
Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 March
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Wynyard.
- From Wynyard, catch a City Circle train to continue your journey.
- Trains run between Berowra and Hornsby, some to a changed timetable.
T1 Western Line
Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 March
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains run between Western Line stations and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April
- Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park only.
- Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
- Sunday from 6am to 9am, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Strathfield only.
T3 Bankstown Line
Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April
- Some trains run to a changed timetable and may leave 3 minutes earlier than the normal timetable.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April
- Buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland, and between Central and Bondi Junction.
- Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Sutherland and North Sydney.
T5 Cumberland Line
Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 March
- Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains end at Granville.
- You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.
T8 Airport & South Line
Saturday 30 March
- From 9am to 3pm, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Revesby and Turrella.
Sunday 31 March
- From 8.40am to 3pm, buses replace the all-stations trains between Wolli Creek and Revesby.
- Express trains continue to run but will not stop at stations between Padstow and Turrella
T9 Northern Line
Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 March
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
Blue Mountains Line
From Wednesday 3 April
- Wednesday’s Bathurst Bullet train service has important timetable changes
Central Coast & Newcastle Line

- Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.15am, buses replace trains from Newcastle Interchange to Morisset.
- Nightly from 9.15pm to 3am, buses replace trains from Morisset to Newcastle Interchange.
- Trains run between Morisset and Central, some to a changed timetable.
South Coast Line
Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April
- Buses replace trains between Wollongong and Sutherland, and between Central and Bondi Junction.
- Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong, and between Port Kembla and Wollongong, some to a changed timetable.
