Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 3 to Sunday 9 July 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritised during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Wednesday 5 to Monday 10 July

    • Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork at Central Station. 

    T1 Western Line

    Wednesday 5 to Monday 10 July

    • Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork at Central Station.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 July

    • Nightly from 10pm to 2am, some trains between Leppington and the City via Granville make extra stops at stations between Homebush and the City.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Thursday 6 and Friday 7 July

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, and between Sydenham and the City, stopping at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • Nightly from 10pm to 2am, trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park only. 
    • Some T4 Illawarra Line trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. 

    Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July

    • Buses replace trains between Cabramatta, Lidcombe and Sydenham.
    • Trains run between Leppington, Cabramatta and the City via Granville, and between Sydenham and the City, stopping at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • Nightly from 10pm to 2am, T4 Illawarra Line trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.

    This trackwork continues until Sunday 16 July.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 July

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla or Waterfall and North Sydney or the City Circle. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station.
    • The last train leaves Bondi Junction at 9.55pm. 

    Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 July

    • Nightly from 10pm to 2am, some trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 July

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains start and end at Granville. Change trains at Granville to continue your journey. 

    Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 July

    • Some trains may run to a changed timetable.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 July

    • Some trains may run to a changed timetable.

    T9 Northern Line

    Wednesday 5 to Monday 10 July

    • Some trains run to a changed timetable.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Wednesday 5 to Monday 10 July

    • Most trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Change trains at Blacktown to continue your journey.
    • Trains from Blacktown to Blue Mountains Line stations run up to 30 minutes later than the normal timetable.
    • Bathurst trains start and end at Strathfield.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 3 to Thursday 6 July

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 3.50am, buses replace trains between Gosford and Wyong.

    Wednesday 5 to Monday 10 July

    • Most trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. 
    • Weekdays, trains continue to run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and the City via the T1 North Shore Line, to the normal timetable.

    South Coast Line

    Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 July

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
    • Trains run between South Coast Line stations and the City Circle. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. 

    Wednesday 5 to Monday 10 July

    • Most trains run between South Coast Line stations and Bondi Junction only.
    • Wednesday from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run between South Coast Line stations and the City Circle.

    Southern Highlands Line

    Thursday 6 to Monday 10 July

    • Trains that normally run between Southern Highlands Line stations and Central will start and end at Campbelltown. Change trains at Campbelltown to continue your journey.
