Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 10 July to Sunday 16 July 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritised during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 July

    • Nightly from 8.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
    • Nightly from 9.20pm to 1.30am, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong.

    City Circle

    Tuesday 11 and Thursday 13 July

    • Nightly from 10pm to 2am, trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
    • T1 North Shore & Western and T9 Northern Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard.
    • The light rail runs between Central and Circular Quay. If you are travelling to:
      • Circular Quay, change at Wynyard for the light rail or walk
      • Museum or St James, change at Central or Town Hall for local buses or walk

    T1 North Shore Line

    Monday 10 July

    • Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork at Central Station.

    T1 Western Line

    Monday 10 July

    • Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork at Central Station. 

    Tuesday 11 and Thursday 13 July

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
    • Thursday from 11pm to 1.30am, some trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood. 

    Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July

    • From 10pm Friday, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at Flemington, Homebush, Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield.
    • Saturday and Sunday, Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Leppington only. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Monday 10 to Thursday 13 July

    • Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. 
    • Thursday from 11pm to 2am, buses replace the all-stations Inner West trains between Strathfield and Ashfield. Trains run between Ashfield and North Sydney, to a changed timetable. 

    Friday 14 July  

    • From 10pm to 2am, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.

    Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July

    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. 
    • The all-stations Inner West trains will not run. T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Flemington and Macdonaldtown.
    • Leppington trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville, and between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park.
    • Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey or change at Glenfield for direct trains to the City via the Airport.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Monday 10 to Friday 14 July

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
    • Most trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, and between Sydenham and the City. At times, trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. 

    Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
    • Trains run between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 10 July

    • From 10.40am to 1.30pm, Cronulla trains run between Cronulla and Sutherland, and between Hurstville and Bondi Junction only. You may need to change trains at Sutherland or Hurstville to continue your journey.
    • Waterfall trains continue to run between Waterfall and Bondi Junction, stopping at all stations between Sutherland and Hurstville.

    Tuesday 11 and Thursday 13 July

    • Nightly from 10pm to 2am, some trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Monday 10 to Sunday 16 July

    • Some trains may run to a changed timetable.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Monday 10 to Friday 14 July

    • Some trains may run to a changed timetable.

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 10 July

    • Some trains run to a changed timetable. 

    Tuesday 11 and Thursday 13 July

    • Nightly from 10pm to 2am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 

    Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July

    • From 10pm Friday, trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at stations between Strathfield and Macdonaldtown.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Monday 10 July

    • Most trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Change trains at Blacktown to continue your journey.
    • Bathurst trains start and end at Strathfield. 

    Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July  

    • From 10pm Friday, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 10 July

    • Most trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. 
    • On Monday, trains continue to run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and the City via the T1 North Shore Line, to the normal timetable.

    Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July

    • From 10pm Friday, trains may run to a changed timetable.
    • Some trains may leave up to 5 minutes earlier than the normal timetable from Central and Strathfield

    Hunter Line

    Thursday 13 July

    • From 8.45am to 11.15am, buses replace trains between Maitland and Muswellbrook. 

    Saturday 15 July

    • From 8.50pm to 2.20am, buses replace trains from Newcastle Interchange to Telarah.
    • From 9.45pm to 3am, buses replace trains from Telarah to Newcastle Interchange.

    South Coast Line

    Monday 10 July

    • Trains that normally start and end at Central, platforms 1-12 will instead start and end at Bondi Junction. 

    Sunday 16 July

    • From 8.10am to 11.40am, at Helensburgh and Otford, all trains leave from platform 1.
    • From 12.20pm to 3.30pm, at Otford and Helensburgh, all trains leave from platform 2

    Southern Highlands Line

    Monday 10 July

    • Trains that normally run between Southern Highlands Line stations and Central will start and end at Campbelltown. Change trains at Campbelltown to continue your journey.

    Saturday 15 July

    • From 10am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Campbelltown and Moss Vale.
