Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 5 to Sunday 11 February 2024

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 February

    • Nightly from 8.40pm, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
    • Nightly from 9.20pm, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong.

    City Circle

    Monday 5 to Thursday 8 February 

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
    • The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay, Wynyard, Town Hall and Central.
    • If you are travelling to:
      • Circular Quay, change at Wynyard for the light rail or walk
      • Museum or St James, change at Central or Town Hall for local buses or walk.

    T1 Western Line

    Monday 5 to Thursday 8 February 

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains make extra stops at Harris Park, Granville, Clyde, Auburn and Ashfield.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Monday 5 to Thursday 8 February 

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, due to City Circle trackwork, most trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Central, platforms 1-12, via Granville, and will not stop at Ashfield.
    • Inner West trains run to a changed timetable between Homebush and North Sydney.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 5 to Thursday 8 February 

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 2.20am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Some trains run to a changed timetable.
    • Wednesday and Friday, daily from 12.50am to 2.20am, buses also replace some trains between Hurstville and Cronulla or Waterfall. 

    Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February    

    • Buses replace trains between Cronulla, Waterfall and Sydenham.
    • T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains run to a changed timetable between Central and Bondi Junction.

    T7 Olympic Park Line

    Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 February

    • Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February    

    • Trackwork on the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines may affect how you travel.

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 5 to Thursday 8 February 

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 

    Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 February 

    • Nightly from 9.10pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield.
    • Trains run between Strathfield and the City to a changed timetable.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Thursday 8 and Friday 9 February

    • Daily from 10.40am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria, then continue to Blackheath.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 February 

    • Nightly from 10pm to 3am, most trains run to a changed timetable via the T1 North Shore Line, making extra stops at Gordon, Chatswood, then all stations to Central.
    • Buses replace trains between Strathfield and Hornsby. 

    Hunter Line

    Tuesday 6 to Friday 9 February

    • 4am Tuesday to 7.30am Friday, buses replace trains between Scone and Maitland.
    • Tuesday and Wednesday, nightly from 7.20pm to 4.30am, and Thursday from 7.20pm to 2.30am, buses replace all trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange. 

    Saturday 10 February

    • From 9pm to 3am, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Telarah.

    South Coast Line

    Wednesday 7 and Friday 9 February 

    • Daily from 12.50am to 2.20am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Oatley and Sutherland.

    Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February    

    • Buses replace trains between Dapto and Central, and between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
    • Some trains run to a changed timetable.
    • South Coast Line trackwork buses do not stop at Wolli Creek.
