Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 4 to Sunday 10 March 2024

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 March

    • Nightly from 8.40pm, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
    • Nightly from 9.20pm, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong.

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.
    • Trackwork on the T9 Northern Line may also affect how you travel. Change at Chatswood for trains towards the City via the T1 North Shore Line.

    City Circle

    Monday 4 March  

    • From 9.50pm to 11.55pm, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
    • From 11.55pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall. 

    Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 March

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. 
    • The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay, Wynyard, Town Hall and Central.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Buses replace trains between Berowra and Gordon.
    • Trains run between Gordon and the City, to a changed timetable.

    T1 Western Line

    Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 March

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. Some trains make an extra stop at Homebush. More>>

    Friday 8 March 

    • From 10pm to 2am, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Macdonaldtown.

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Leppington. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Monday 4 to Thursday 7 March

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Central.
    • Leppington trains will not stop at Ashfield.
    • Tuesday to Thursday, trains run between Leppington and Central, platforms 1-12, via Granville.
    • Monday and Tuesday, nightly from 8pm, trackwork will also affect light rail services on the L1 Dulwich Hill Line.

    Friday 8 March 

    • From 10pm to 2am, Inner West trains will not run. T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Central.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey.

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Inner West trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern, running between Olympic Park and the City, then continuing to T1 North Shore Line stations.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March  

    • Extra trains run between Sydenham and the City Circle.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 4 to Thursday 7 March

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 2.20am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Extra trains run between Leppington and Richmond.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Extra trains run between Kingsgrove and the City Circle via Sydenham.

    T9 Northern Line

    Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 March

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 

    Friday 8 March 

    • From 10pm Friday, trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Strathfield and Macdonaldtown. 

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Strathfield and the City.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Monday 4 to Friday 8 March

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March  

    • Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 4 to Friday 8 March

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Gordon.

    Hunter Line

    Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March

    • Buses replace trains between Scone or Dungog and Newcastle Interchange.
    • Buses also replace trains on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.

    South Coast Line

    Saturday 9 March 

    • From 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Port Kembla, Dapto and Waterfall.
    • You may need to change buses to continue your journey. 

    Sunday 10 March 

    • From 2.30am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong.
    • You may need to change buses to continue your journey.

    Southern Highlands Line

    Saturday 9 to Monday 11 March

    • From 4.40am Saturday to 8.30am Monday, buses replace trains between Goulburn and Moss Vale.
