Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
Metro
Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 February
- Nightly from 7.40pm, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
- Nightly from 8.20pm, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong.
Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March
- Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.
City Circle
Sunday 3 March
- Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
- Trains may run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
- You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
- T1 and T9 trains run in both directions between Wynyard and Central, and the light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central.
T1 Western Line
Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March
- Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Leppington. Change at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
- Penrith trains make extra stops at Flemington and Burwood.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Wednesday 28 February
- From 10am to 1.30pm, buses replace trains between Leppington and Liverpool.
- Trains run to the normal timetable between Liverpool and the City via Granville. More>>
Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March
- Trains run between Leppington and the City via Granville to a reduced frequency.
- Extra trains run between Leppington and Richmond, and between Ashfield and the City.
T3 Bankstown Line
Sunday 3 March
- Trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Redfern only.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 February
- Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
- Trains run to a changed timetable between Illawarra Line stations and North Sydney. Change at Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.
- Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Buses leave from nearby bus stops or you can catch the light rail to Town Hall or Central.
Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March
- Buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
- Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
- Saturday from 11.30pm to 2.20am, buses also replace trains between Waterfall, Cronulla and Hurstville.
- Trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
T5 Cumberland Line
Monday 26 February
- From 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains from Richmond to Leppington will instead run to Granville, then continue to Olympic Park.
- You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.
- Trains continue to run from Leppington to Richmond, in that direction only.
Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 February
- Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains end at Granville.
- You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.
T7 Olympic Park Line
Sunday 3 March
- Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe.
T8 Airport & South Line
Sunday 3 March
- Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
- Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central only.
Central Coast & Newcastle Line
Friday 23 to Monday 26 February
- From 1.20pm Friday to 2am Tuesday, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong.
- Buses do not run to the train timetable. If you are connecting with trains at Wyong you may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection.
- Trains run between Wyong and Central, some to a changed timetable.
- Allow extra travel time or consider alternative arrangements.

Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 February
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 3.50am, buses replace trains from Gosford to Wyong.
- Trains run to the normal timetable from Central to Gosford but run up to 23 minutes later than normal from Wyong to Newcastle Interchange.
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 3am, buses replace trains from Wyong to Gosford.
- Trains run from Newcastle Interchange to Wyong, and Gosford to Central, some to a changed timetable.
Hunter Line
Friday 23 to Monday 26 February
- From 1.20pm Friday to 2am Tuesday, trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line may affect how you travel, with buses replacing trains between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong.
- If you are travelling to Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations you may need to catch an earlier service to ensure you arrive at your destination on time.
- Nightly from 6pm to 1am, some trains towards Telarah or Dungog may run up to 20 minutes later than the normal timetable, due to trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.

Thursday 29 February
- Buses replace the following trains between Maitland and Muswellbrook:
- 08:14 Newcastle Interchange to Muswellbrook
- 10:09 Muswellbrook to Newcastle Interchange
- Trains run to the normal timetable between Newcastle Interchange and Maitland.
South Coast Line
Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 February
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
- Trains run between South Coast Line stations and the City Circle. Change at Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.
- Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Buses leave from nearby bus stops or you can catch the light rail to Town Hall or Central.
Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March
- Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
- At Albion Park, trains may leave from different platforms, please check indicator screens before boarding.

- From 11.30pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville.
- Trains run between South Coast Line stations and Waterfall only.
- T4 Illawarra Line trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
