Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 11 to Sunday 17 March 2024

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 March

    • Nightly from 8.40pm, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
    • Nightly from 9.20pm, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong. 

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March

    • Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.

    City Circle

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 March

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
    • T2 Leppington, T3 Bankstown and T8 Airport & South Line trains start and end at Central.
    • T1 North Shore & Western and T9 Northern Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard.
    • T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall, Martin Place and Kings Cross.
    • The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central. 

    Sunday 17 March

    • Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
    • Trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
    • The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Sunday 17 March

    • Buses replace trains between North Sydney and Wynyard.
    • Trains run between Berowra and North Sydney, some to a changed timetable.

    T1 Western Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 March

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 

    Friday 15 March 

    • From 10.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Emu Plains and St Marys.
    • Trains run between St Marys and the City, some to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March 

    • Buses replace trains between Emu Plains and Blacktown.
    • Saturday, trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond, Blacktown and the City.
    • Sunday, trains run between Blacktown and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
    • From 6.30am to 10.30am, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Strathfield.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 March

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, Leppington trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Central, platforms 1-12, via Granville, and will not stop at Ashfield. 
    • Inner West trains run to a changed timetable between Homebush and North Sydney due to trackwork on the City Circle. 

    Saturday 16 March   

    • From 6.30am to 10.30am, Leppington trains will not stop at Ashfield

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Friday 15 March  

    • Buses replace the 00:30 Central to Liverpool service from Sydenham to Liverpool, and the 00:52 Lidcombe to Bankstown service. 

    Sunday 17 March

    • Trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Redfern only.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March    

    • Buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
    • Saturday from 11.30pm to 2.20am, buses also replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville.
    • Trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
    • Sunday, some trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • From 8am to 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 March   

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains end at Granville.
    • You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Sunday 17 March

    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
    • Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central only.

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 March

    • Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.

    Saturday 16 March   

    • From 6.30am to 10.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.

    Sunday 17 March

    • Trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
    • Change at Central for a City Circle train or the light rail to continue your journey.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Monday 11 to Friday 15 March 

    • From 2am Monday to 10pm Friday, buses replace trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria.
    • Trains run between Mount Victoria and Central, some to a changed timetable.
    • Bathurst trains run between Bathurst and Lithgow or Central, to a changed timetable.
    • Friday from 9.30pm, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Blacktown.
    • From 11pm, buses replace trains from Blacktown to Lithgow.

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March   

    • Buses replace trains between Bathurst and Blacktown.
    • T1 Western Line trains run between Blacktown and Central, to a changed timetable.

    South Coast Line

    Thursday 14 March

    • From 9.20am to 2.15pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong.

    Saturday 16 March 

    • From 11.30pm to 2.20am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville.
    • Trains run between South Coast Line stations and Waterfall only.
    • T4 Illawarra Line trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable

    Southern Highlands Line

    Monday 11 March

    • From 4.40am to 8.30am, buses replace trains between Goulburn and Moss Vale.
    • Trains run between Moss Vale and Campbelltown or Central, to the normal timetable.
