Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
Metro
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March
- Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.
City Circle
Monday 18 to Thursday 21 March
- Nightly from10pm to 1.30am, trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
- T1 North Shore & Western, T2 Inner West and T9 Northern Line trains continue to run between Central and Wynyard.
- The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central.
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March
- Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
T1 North Shore Line
Wednesday 20 March
- From 12.20am to 2.30am, buses replace trains from Hornsby to Berowra.
T1 Western Line
Monday 18 to Thursday 21 March
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
- Wednesday from 11pm, trains will not stop at Ashfield but make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Monday 18 to Thursday 21 March
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, Leppington trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Central, platforms 1-12, via Granville, and will not stop at Ashfield.
- Wednesday from 11pm to 1.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Ashfield.
T3 Bankstown Line
Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 March
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Bankstown and Sydenham.
Friday 22 March
- From 9pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March
- Buses replace trains between Cabramatta, Lidcombe and Sydenham.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Monday 18 to Thursday 21 March
- Nightly from 10pm, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
- Nightly from 11pm to 2.30am, buses replace trains run between Cronulla, Sutherland and Hurstville.
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March
- Buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
- Saturday from 11.30pm to 2.20am, buses also replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville.
T8 Airport & South Line
Monday 18 to Thursday 21 March
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains start and end at Central due to City Circle trackwork.
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March
- Revesby trains run via the Airport but end at Central. Trains to Revesby leave from City Circle stations.
- Most Macarthur trains run to the City run via Sydenham. Trains to Macarthur start from Central.
T9 Northern Line
Monday 18 to Thursday 21 March
- Nightly from 9.45pm to 1.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
- Wednesday from 11pm, trains will not stop at Ashfield.
Blue Mountains Line
Monday 18 to Friday 22 March
- Buses replace trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria.
Central Coast & Newcastle Line
Wednesday 20 March
- From 12.20am until 3.30am, buses replace trains from Hornsby to Gosford.
- Trains run from Central to Hornsby, and from Gosford to Newcastle Interchange, some to a changed timetable.
Hunter Line
Thursday 21 March
- Buses replace some trains between Maitland and Muswellbrook.
South Coast Line
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March
- Buses replace trains between Port Kembla, Dapto and Wollongong.
- Daily from 1.40am to 10am, buses also replace some trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto.
- Saturday, the 20:53 Wollongong to Bondi Junction service will end at Hurstville. Change at Hurstville for a T4 Illawarra Line train to continue your journey.
- From 11.30pm to 2.20am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville.
Southern Highlands Line
Saturday 23 March
- From 4.40am to 8.30am, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown.
