Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 17 July to Sunday 23 July 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 July  

    • Nightly from 9.30pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains from Hornsby to Central. T
    • Nightly from 9.55pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains from Central to Hornsby. 
    • Trains run between Berowra and Hornsby, some to a changed timetable.
    • T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains start and end at Central, platforms 1-12.

    T1 Western Line

    Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July

    • Buses replace trains between Penrith, Richmond and Granville.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Granville and the City.
    • Doonside Station: The footbridge will be closed. A shuttle bus service will run between the Hill End Road side of the station to Doonside Road.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July

    • Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Liverpool.
    • Trains run between Liverpool and the City via Granville, and between Leppington and the City via the Airport, some to a changed timetable.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 July

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey. 

    Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July

    • Buses replace trains between Richmond and Granville, and between Glenfield and Liverpool.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and the City via the Airport, and between Liverpool and the City via Granville. 

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July

    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
    • Trains that normally start and end at Revesby will instead run between Leppington and the City via the Airport, to a changed timetable.
    • Saturday from 8.40am to 3pm, buses replace the all-stations trains between Wolli Creek and Revesby.
    • Trains continue to run but will not stop at stations between Padstow and Turrella.
    • Sunday from 9am to 3pm, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 July  

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 July

    • Nightly from 7.30pm to 1am, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Penrith.
    • Nightly from 9.10pm to 3am, buses replace trains from Penrith to Lithgow.
    • Trains run between Penrith and Central, some to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July

    • Buses replace trains between Penrith and Strathfield. Trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Penrith only.
    • Buses also replace T1 Western Line trains between Penrith, Richmond and Granville.
    • Bathurst trains continue to run between Bathurst and Central, to a changed timetable.
    • If you are travelling to Lithgow to connect with NSW TrainLink Regional Coaches please call 132 232 to confirm departure times

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July

    • Trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. 

    Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 July

    • From 8pm Saturday to 5.30am Sunday, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong.

    Hunter Line

    Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 July

    • From 10.30pm Saturday to 6.30am Sunday, some trains run up to 15 minutes later than the normal timetable due to trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.

    South Coast Line

    Saturday 22 July

    • From 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong, and between Dapto and Waterfall. 

    Sunday 23 July  

    • From 3am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong.
    • Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
