Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
Metro
Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 April
- Nightly from 8.40pm, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
- Nightly from 9.20pm, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong.
City Circle Line
Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
- T2 Leppington and T8 Airport & South Line trains start and end at Central.
- T1 North Shore & Western, T2 Inner West and T9 Northern Line trains continue to run between Central and Wynyard.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall, Martin Place and Kings Cross.
- The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central.
- If you are travelling to:
- Circular Quay, change at Wynyard for the light rail or walk
- Museum or St James, change at Central or Town Hall for local buses or walk.
T1 North Shore Line
Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 2.30am, buses replace Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains between Hornsby and Berowra.
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April
- Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central.
T1 Western Line
Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
- Wednesday from 11pm, trains will not stop at Ashfield but make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood.
Friday 19 to Sunday 21 April
- From 9.40pm Friday, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Macdonaldtown.
- Saturday and Sunday, Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Fairfield.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, Leppington trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Central, platforms 1-12, via Granville, and will not stop at Ashfield or Newtown.
- Inner West trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool or Homebush and North Sydney due to trackwork on the City Circle.
- Wednesday from 11pm to 1.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Ashfield.
- Trains run between Ashfield and North Sydney, to a changed timetable.
Friday 19 April
- From 9.40pm, Inner West trains will not run. T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Central.
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April
- Buses replace trains between Macarthur, Glenfield and Fairfield.
- Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City via the Airport, and between Fairfield and Schofields or Richmond.
- Inner West trains will not run. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
T3 Bankstown Line
Monday 15 to Friday 19 April
- Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
- Most trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, and between Sydenham and the City Circle.
- Monday to Thursday, nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, T4 trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
- Tuesday and Wednesday, nightly from 10.40pm to 1.30am and Friday from 9.40pm, some trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey.
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April
- Buses replace trains between Cabramatta, Lidcombe and Sydenham.
- Trains run between Sydenham and the City Circle, stopping at St Peters and Erskineville.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 2.30am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
T5 Cumberland Line
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April
- Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Fairfield.
