Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
City Circle
Monday 19 to Thursday 22 February
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
- Trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
- You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
- The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay, Wynyard, Town Hall and Central.
T1 Western Line
Wednesday 21 February
- From 10.50pm to 1.30am, most trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Wednesday 21 February
- Wednesday from 11pm to 1.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Ashfield.
- Trains run between Ashfield and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable.
- Leppington trains continue to run but will not stop at Ashfield.
- Most T1 Western Line trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Monday 19 to Thursday 22 February
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 2.20am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
- Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
Saturday 24 February
- From 5.40am to 8am, trains run between Cronulla, Waterfall and the City Circle, and between Central and Bondi Junction only. Change at Central or Town Hall for trains towards Bondi Junction.
T8 Airport & South Line
Monday 19 to Thursday 22 February
- Nightly from 9.20pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Glenfield and Sydenham.
- Some trains run to a changed timetable.
- Nightly from 10.40pm to 1.30am, buses also replace trains between Sydenham and Central via the Airport.
Central Coast & Newcastle Line
Monday 19 to Thursday 22 February
- Nightly from 8.45pm to 1.45am, buses replace trains from Newcastle Interchange to Wyong.
- Trains run from Wyong to Central, some to a changed timetable.
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 3.40am, buses replace trains from Wyong to Newcastle Interchange.
- Trains run to the normal timetable from Central to Wyong.
Friday 23 to Monday 26 February
- From 1.20pm Friday to 2am Tuesday, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong.
- Buses do not run to the train timetable. If you are connecting with trains at Wyong you may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection.
- Trains run between Wyong and Central, some to a changed timetable.
- Allow extra travel time or consider alternative arrangements.
Hunter Line
Monday 19 to Thursday 22 February
- Nightly from 11pm to 1am, some trains towards Telarah run up to 20 minutes later than the normal timetable, due to trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.
Friday 23 to Monday 26 February
- From 1.20pm Friday to 2am Tuesday, trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line may affect how you travel, with buses replacing trains between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong.
- If you are travelling to Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations you may need to catch an earlier service to ensure you arrive at your destination on time.
- Nightly from 6pm to 1am, some trains towards Telarah or Dungog may run up to 20 minutes later than the normal timetable, due to trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.
South Coast Line
Friday 23 to Sunday 25 February
- From 11.50pm Friday, buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong.
- Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Central or Bondi Junction, to the normal timetable
