Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 23 to Sunday 29 October 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Monday 23 to Thursday 26 October

    • Nightly from 9.50pm, Metro runs between Tallawong and Macquarie Park only.
    • Buses run between Macquarie University and Chatswood. 

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Trackwork on the T9 Northern Line may affect how you travel. Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield.
    • Change at Chatswood for trains towards the City via the T1 North Shore Line. 

    T1 North Shore Line

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Buses replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby.

    T1 Western Line

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Penrith trains make an extra stop at Burwood.
    • Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey towards the City.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Inner West trains run between Homebush and Central, then continue to Hornsby. You may need to change trains if travelling to Circular Quay, St James or Museum.
    • Trains run between Leppington and the City Circle via Granville, some to a changed timetable.
    • Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, Inner West trains run between Ashfield, Central and Hornsby. All Leppington and some T1 Western Line trains make extra stops at Homebush and Croydon.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra  Line

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Daily from 6.30am to 12.15pm, trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
    • Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 

    Sunday 29 October 

    • From 1pm to 4pm, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make an extra stop at Arncliffe.
    • Buses run between Arncliffe, Wolli Creek and Sydenham.
    • Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 October    

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains start and end at Granville.
    • You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey. 

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Monday 23 to Thursday 26 October   

    • Nightly from 9.30pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Glenfield and Sydenham.
    • Trains run between Macarthur and Glenfield, and until 10.50pm between Turrella and the City via the Airport, some to a changed timetable.
    • If you are travelling from the City to stations between Bardwell Park and Holsworthy catch a T3 Bankstown or T4 Illawarra Line train to Sydenham and change for a bus.
    • Nightly from 10.40pm to 1.30am, buses also replace trains between Sydenham and Central via the Airport. 

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 23 to Thursday 26 October   

    • Nightly from 10.10pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Epping and Strathfield.
    • Trains run between Hornsby and Epping, and between Strathfield and the City, to a changed timetable.
    • Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains run to a changed timetable via the T1 North Shore Line, making extra stops at Gordon, Chatswood, then all stations to Central. 

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Strathfield and the City, and between Hornsby and the City via the T1 North Shore Line.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Most trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Change trains at Blacktown to continue your journey.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 23 to Thursday 26 October    

    • Nightly from 10pm to 3am, most trains run to a changed timetable via the T1 North Shore Line, making extra stops at Gordon, Chatswood, then all stations to Central.
    • Trackwork also affects trains on the T9 Northern Line.
    • Buses run between Strathfield and Hornsby to connect with Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains.
    • Tuesday to Friday, the 1.47am Central to Newcastle Interchange train will start at Hornsby at 2.23am.

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Hornsby.

    Hunter Line

    • Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 
      • Buses replace trains between Scone or Dungog and Newcastle Interchange.

    South Coast Line

    Thursday 26 October   

    • From 9.20am to 2pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
    • Buses towards Wollongong may leave stations up to 15 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable.
    • Trains run between Wollongong and Thirroul or Waterfall to the normal timetable. 

    Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 

    • Daily from 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville. 

    Sunday 29 October 

    • From 1pm to 4pm, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make extra stops at Arncliffe and Sydenham.
    • Buses run between Arncliffe, Wolli Creek and Sydenham.
    • Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek.

    Southern Highlands Line

    Saturday 28 October

    • From 10am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Campbelltown and Moss Vale.
