Industrial action affecting metropolitan trams
Due to protected industrial action, metropolitan tram services will not operate between 10am and 2pm on Thursday 5 December.
Services are also expected to be significantly disrupted from 2pm until approximately 3.30pm as the normal timetable is restored.
Passengers are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative modes of transport.
🚇Metro Trains
Alamein, Belgrave and Lilydale lines
- Buses replace trains between Burnley and Box Hill/Alamein stations from 8.20pm to the last train each night, from Wednesday 4 December and Thursday 5 December, due to maintenance works.
- Buses replace trains between Parliament and Camberwell stations from 8.20pm to last train each night, Monday 9 to Thursday 12 December, due to maintenance works.
Alamein, Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale lines
- Alamein, Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop, on Saturday 14 December 2019, due to works.
Belgrave and Lilydale lines
- Buses replace trains between Blackburn and Belgrave/Lilydale stations from 8.10pm on Saturday 14 December to 6am Sunday 15 December and from 8.10pm to last train on Sunday 15 December 2019, due to maintenance works.
Craigieburn Line
- Buses will replace trains between North Melbourne and Essendon stations from 8.50pm to last train on Sunday 8 December, due to maintenance works.
- Buses will replace trains between Essendon and Craigieburn stations from 8.30pm on Friday 13 December to last train Sunday 15 December, due to maintenance works.
Frankston Line
- Buses replace trains between Moorabbin and Frankston from 9.15pm Friday 6 December to last train Sunday 8 December, while project works take place.
Glen Waverley Line
- Buses replace trains between Richmond and Glen Waverley stations from 8.20pm to last train each night from Monday 9 December to Thursday 12 December, due to maintenance works.
Hurstbridge and Mernda lines
- Trains on the Hurstbridge and Mernda lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop from 9pm to last train each night on Monday 9 December and Tuesday 10 December 2019, due to works.
Mernda Line
- Buses replace trains between Thornbury and Mernda stations from first train Wednesday 4 December to last train Thursday 12 December, while works take place.
- Buses replace trains between Thornbury and South Morang from first train Friday 13 December to 10pm Friday 13 December, while works take place.
- Buses replace trains between Thornbury and Epping stations from 10pm Friday 13 December to last train Sunday 15 December, while works take place.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace trains between Dandenong and Pakenham stations, 8pm to last train each night from Sunday 8 December to Sunday 15 December, while project works take place.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace trains between Footscray and Sunshine from 8.50pm to last train on Sunday 8 December, due to maintenance works.
Sunbury and Werribee lines
- Trains on the Sunbury and Werribee lines will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop, on Saturday 14 December 2019.
Upfield Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 8.40pm Friday 6 December to last train Sunday 8 December, due to maintenance works.
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 8pm to last train each night from Monday 9 December to Wednesday 11 December 2019, due to maintenance works.
Werribee Line
- Trains on the Werribee Line will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station, not via the City Loop, from 8.45pm to last train Sunday 8 December 2019.
🚈Yarra Trams
Route 58
- There are service changes on Route 58 trams from 2am Saturday 23 November to last tram Sunday 8 December, due to construction of two new accessible platform stops, and tram track renewals.
🚊V/Line
Albury and Seymour lines
- Coaches will replace select Seymour line trains on the evening of Sunday 8 December, due to track works.
- Select Seymour trains will be replaced by road coaches from the evening of Friday 13 December, and all Seymour and Shepparton trains will be replaced by coaches from first service Saturday 14 December to last service Sunday 15

Ararat, Ballarat and Maryborough lines
- Coaches are replacing trains between Ararat and Ballarat for the entire journey from Saturday 7 December until Friday 13 December, due to Ballarat Line Upgrade works.
Ballarat Line
- Road coaches replace selected evening trains on the Ballarat Line from Sunday 15 December to Tuesday 17 December, due to works.
Bendigo Line
- Coaches replace select evening trains between Southern Cross and Bendigo/Epsom from Sunday 8 December to Tuesday 10 December, while maintenance works take place.
Gippsland Line
- Road coaches replace evening trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines from Sunday 8 December to Thursday 12 December, due to testing on the metropolitan train network.
- Road coaches replace evening trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines from Friday 13 December to Sunday 15 December, due to testing on the metropolitan train network.
🚍Metropolitan Buses
Extra Chadstone Shopping Centre buses
- From Saturday 19 October 2019 to Monday 27 January 2020, extra weekend bus services will run between Oakleigh Station and Chadstone Shopping Centre. The average wait time is 2 minutes on weekdays and 5 minutes on weekends.
